Current Vineyard Activity
It is March 19th and we still seem to be dealing with this rainy winter weather. With a later bud break for the vines, we stand a better chance to withstand the elements, however with these late rains the issue of a heavy mildew year becomes a major priority. Many growers have unfortunately found out that most fungus types are now becoming resistant to many chemicals that are used to treat the different strains. Without proper treatment early on, we will face a long year of treatments to provide good, clean, healthy grapes for the winemaking process.
As we finish pruning and tying of the vines, we are looking ahead at the hurdles we will face. Every year seems to bring other challenges no matter how much planning you try to do, Mother Nature ALWAYS has other plans.
